Bannu drone attack claims one died, three injured

BANNU: At least one person has died and three others were injured in a drone strike in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police reported on Wednesday.

According to authorities, two quadcopter drones were involved in the attack. One of the drones crashed into a residential area, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to three individuals. The second drone targeted Miryan Police Station but did not cause any casualties; however, it did damage the station’s solar panels.

The injured victims were transported to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Bannu for treatment. In the aftermath, police launched search operations in both locations to apprehend those responsible.

This incident marks the fourth drone attack in Bannu over recent months, highlighting an increasing trend of militant groups utilizing quadcopters for targeted strikes. Past attacks have also led to injuries and property damage, raising alarms over the evolving tactics of terrorists in the region.

In response, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police recently acquired an advanced anti-drone system designed to detect and disable hostile drones from a distance, aiming to protect key government sites, prominent individuals, and major public events.
